So Tuesday morning, Vin came sobbing into my room, holding his arm. He cried uncontrollably for so long, that I became alarmed again. Our neighbor had said that it was possible that if the arm was broken with a hairline fracture, it might not show up for at least a week and if we needed to, we could come back and have it x-rayed again. So, in the middle of day that held, among other things, taking my brother to the airport, finishing up the horse, getting ready for the 4th and meeting friends for the Rodeo, we headed back to our neighbor's chiropractic office.
Long story short, it looks broken.
What to do next? It is late afternoon on the day before holiday in the middle of the week, when most doctors are taking the rest of the week off. So we called a lady from our church who is a medical professional at the local VA hospital to ask where we should go. She recommended a local sports medicine office. So we breeze in at 4:55 p.m., with this story,
"My son broke his arm a week ago; my neighbor who is a chiropractor x-rayed it, and a lady from our church said we should come here."
They looked at the x-ray to see if it was anything "scary" and made him an appointment for Monday. Vin gets a dose or two of Motrin each day and mostly goes about his day with 2 or 3 episodes of "My arm really hurts"" with and without tears each day. We could still go to the ER if he is really miserable, but most of the time he seems fine and plays using his arm and wrist like normal.
So, I guess we'll know on Monday....

Well at least it is a small break...maybe it won't have to stay in the cast all summer.
bummer.
Ah well...what's the growing-up years of a boy if not with at least one broken arm thrown in there for good measure??
Motrin for Vin, A glass of white Yellow Tail for mom...all is good.
Tammi, how did you know about the yellow tail????
yeah, i'm so hoping it will be healed enough on Monday, they'll justs have some nice alternative to a cast that can't go in the pool...
....and it's the second time he's broken this arm....
Ness, seriously, did you find out about Yellow Tail from my husband.....this is a legendary wine at our house.....for all the wrong....or right reasons! Hope
Vin heals quickly.
