Remember how I was stressing my ugly workspace a couple months ago? Apparently my brain was working on it in my sleep because this is what I came up with and I like it a lot.

The blue stripes, by the way, are strips of vintage wallpaper. We didn't want to spend time and money on paint, but I was desperately missing color, so I just pinned these up. I also backed the bookcases with it to help bring them up to date a bit. One thing I love about it is that I cannot see my desk from the kitchen, so I feel like I've left work! I also organized all my crafty stuff in the cupboard by my desk, which also holds my printer. That is the first time it has ever been organized! I read in an organizational magazine about how different people organize. I am what is called a "surveyor" (and so is my mom) which means that I like to have everything in view because I'm afraid I'll forget about it. The magazine suggested using colored folders to help create the visual clues I need to stay organized. I'm looking forward to getting that figured out so that the bill drawer doesn't overwhelm me completely. I think the truth is that I like the season just after Christmas better than decorating for Christmas itself. I like reorganizing to include the new things, and I like freshening things up, and I like moving furniture...best therapy in the world for me...after blogging and road trips of course.

Looks good.
Wanna come organize my office space? Lemme dig through the papers, bills, cellphones, books, discs, cds, old Christmas cards, stale chips, and various shades of nailpolish until I find a pen to jot down your number so I can give you directions.
looks great,Sis! we're on our way to getting organized over here too. Just got back from Ikea, in fact
I love it!!!

yah...my dad is a visual organizer and he has learned to use tons of cork board so that anything important he needs he can stick it on the wall and not lose it.
Looks nice. What's the name of the magazine you read? I could stand to figure out my organizing style. Did they mention procrastinating to the point of forgetting?
so sara really loves it : )
Yeah, tammi, i will be right there as soon as I find my keys which are in my purse...somewhere...with cold medicine, a multi-tool, chapstick, three checkbooks, five pens, three pairs of glasses, cough drops, half a granola bar, my social security card from before I was married and two of the three kids immunization records, and oh yeah, 11 pennies.
Ikea...they built one in MI just after we moved. Stinkers.
Heidi...ever read Sandra Felton's "Messie" books? Revolutionized how I feel about my messes and myself : ) The four personalities are: Surveyors, Pack Rats (teachers), White Rabbits (real estate agents), and Tornados (doctors).
I love the cork idea. I would have to devote an entire room to it, though : )
the magazine, btw, was one that robb got me for my birthday when I was too sick to move. It's just one of those special publication idea ones.
Ness....that aqua color kinda sets the whole thing....it's a nice accent color....I don't know how to do that...I just stick stuff in places and something in my soul tells me yes or no.....Pook had pictures of his new digs and I swear, it looked very cute and comfortable, but his bedroom has that same aqua color with brown accents......fun stuff you two do...must be a new year thing.....Courtney is organizing....I am organizing...I found five glucometers....I have one room that is the designated garage sale spot for stuff that I am sure I can live without...the pile is getting bigger and bigger.....I don't think I need another building, but sometimes I am convicted that my stuff has me instead of me having my stuff...or something like that.....anyways, your office looks great.....did you get my pictures? I might just figure this camera/computer stuff out yet...Mom
Mom, yes, I did get them...they look great...I actually bought some hooks myself and hung up my mugs : )
That wallpaper was serendipitous: I got it for a buck thinking, "who knows?" Aqua is one of my staple colors because it looks good with everything...red, brown, orange, you name it. It makes me happy.
Sweet! I just ordered 2 of her books from Amazon. Thanks for the tip.
