Finally! We can eat dinner without our sunglassses on! Ever since the time change, it became very apparent that my temporary curtains were no longer going to work on these westward facing windows in the eat-in kitchen.
I saw the idea for these on a blog months and months ago and filed it away in my brain for such a time as this. The original genius tutorial is found here. I'm not great at window treatments...I would leave every window naked if I could, but with every family dinner becoming more and more miserable, it was time for a solution beyond curtains, since I have made a weird hobby out of trying to grown pineapple tops into pineapples. Don't laugh. I've got three good specimens growing on that windowsill. 
On a tip from a friend, I went to a interior decorating fabric store and picked out about 42 samples and slowly worked my way through them to decide on something I really loved. I paid a lot for the fabric, which I rarely do, but I am realizing that this is our home for good now and it's time to stop doing temporary fixes. But if you are in a temporary/cheap place right now, you could probably pull this whole project off for less than 20 bucks. All it took was uber-cheap-o mini blinds from Walmart, spray adhesive,(Spray Adhesive...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!) and fabric. Bam. That's it.I will definitely be making more of these for Charleigh-Brown-Eyed-Girl's bedroom as soon as I find fabric that is excruciatingly pink and girly.

Simply gorgeous!! Why have I been doing them the hard way all this time??? And I love the recycling of the (horrible, awful, detestable) mini blinds. Great idea executed superbly.
I thought that when I looked at the picture with the dining room furniture, that you had fringe on the bottom, but then figured out that it was the fence outside. These look just fabulous, and I love the fabric you chose. The house is bowing submissively to your creative mind. I love it!!
ooooo oooo I want to try this now... thanks for the inspiration! We've already got the mini blinds but they are already attached...this may be a 'dumb' question but do I need to de-attach the mini-blinds put the fabric on and then re-attach them?
Oh my goodness, I just love those floral bags with the wood handles. Those doors are super too! Very cool! Great blog!
