This is totally off-topic, but something you might consider doing is making a small photographic studio within your "home studio" for you to take pictures of your vintage thingies. Nothing terribly elaborte--I'm thinking a cardboard backdrop that could you could drape different types of cloth (something black, maroon velvet, vintage scraps of quilts, whatever) over for different backgrounds and some adjustable lights to achieve varying lighting effects (accentuate shadows, remove shadows, etc.).
What would be great is if you could create artistic-type photos that you could sell separately from the items themselves, thus getting twice the bang for your buck. ;-)
Matthew...you are a genius. I love this idea! Taking the pictures is half the fun for me...note how much time I put into the "Arranged Marriage." Don't dart out the door on Sunday morning...I've got questions!
It's not like you haven't been essentially doing this all along anyway (the most recent example: the rose bouquet on the tile)--this suggestion would be just a bit more of a focused effort providing you with more creative control.
Heck, you could even get the kids to do fine adjustments of the items for you, so you don't have to leave the camera, so it could be a family project. An idea involving creativity, an artistic eye, and child labor--it's the best possible combination of concepts if I do say so myself. ;-)
