I'm currently hunting for an email address at Country Living magazine to send this to, but for now, let me introduce you to "the best damn junk shop ever"---This is Buttons and Bows, a three story ramshackle adventure in historic Cambridge Springs, PA. Every time I go up north, this is an obligatory stop. In fact, the owners tell me that since they are "on the way" from airports and colleges, lots of people stop their before they go home to see their families! You simply never know what you will find as it is packed (obviously) with antique, vintage, retro, funk, junk, and modern clothes on consignment. There is a certain amount of order to the chaos, believe it or not, but plan to spend at least 3 hours if you want to feel like you have done this place justice. Prices are extremely reasonable...the girls that run it have struck just the right chord between making you feel lucky enough to treasure hunt there, and rewarding you with a good price on an item you really scoured the place to find.
I came away this time with a vintage doctor's uniform, a funky vintage house-dress, an aesthetic transferware butter-pat, the most adorable black shoes, a funky linen tunic, the funky sunglasses pictured below and the perfect cable-knit sweater.
