I don't know I still think it is too obvious for it to be Vaughn. I like the Vaughn's father theory. Vaughn could be still with the show for flashback scenes and that could be a news item that is meant to throw people off who is really the dead body.
I do agree that they show is jumping the shark though - Abrams is obviously spending more time developing Lost. It seems as though they are just dialing it in. And I hate the loss of Weiss - you are right it takes out the normal life aspect that made Alias so intriguing to begin with.
